Match
number one - WWE™ Tag Team Championship.
WWE™ Tag Team Champions; The Basham Brothers vs. Eddie
Guerrero and Rey Mysterio. This
match was the first match for "No Way Out."
It was a good match to start the Pay-Per-View.
The ending went this way.
A tag team championship belt had been brought into the ring
so the referee took the belt and put it on the outside of the ring.
While this was happening, Rey Mysterio gave Eddie Guerrero
the other tag team championship belt.
Guerrero hit one of the Basham's in the head and this was
followed with the 619 by Rey Mysterio.
This helped his team win the match to become the new WWE™
Tag Team Champions.
Next
was a Diva competition to determine the Rookie Diva of 2005; which
took place during the night. There
were three rounds that included the following categories: Evening
Gown, Talent, and Swimsuit. The hosts for this competition were: Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie.
The participants in the complete competition that included
the three rounds were: Rochelle,
Lauren, Joy and Michelle. The
first round started with the participants wearing Evening Gowns.
After all the rounds, the fans decided who would be the
winner by voting on WWE™.com
Match
Number Two - Booker T. vs. Heidenreich.
This match was not the best; in fact the fans were rather
quiet for this match. Heidenreich
was on the outside of the ring and hit Booker T with a steel chair.
The referee saw it and disqualified him, leaving Booker T to
win the match as a result of the disqualification.
Match
Number Three - WWE™ Cruiserweight Championship Elimination
Match. WWE™
Cruiserweight Champion Funaki vs. Paul London, vs. Shannon Moore vs.
Spike Dudley vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Akio.
The way the rules for this match worked is that two
superstars who were selected to be number one and two would wrestle,
then once one of the superstars was eliminated, then the next
Superstar would enter, until there was only one superstar left, then
this person would be the Cruiserweight Champion.
Funaki
and Paul London started off the match.
Funaki was eliminated and then the next superstar to enter
was Spike Dudley. Spike
was eliminated and then Shannon Moore entered and he was eliminated.
Then it was Akio. Paul
London and Akio were knocked down in the ring at the same time.
They had a 10 count to get back up.
London got back up before the 10 count, but Akio did not so
he was eliminated. The
final superstar to enter the ring was Chavo Guerrero.
The ending saw London role up Chavo, however Chavo reversed
the roll up and used the ropes to win the match to become the new WWE™
Cruiserweight Champion.
Then
it was time for round two of the Rookie 2005 Diva Competition.
This was the Talent part.
The four participants were:
Rochelle, Lauren, Joy and Michelle.
Once again Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie were the hosts.
The four Divas had to show off their special Talents.
Joy started by giving Torrie a massage.
Then Rochelle told some jokes.
Then it was time for Lauren, in which she did a dance.
The final participant was Michelle, her special talent was to
attack Dawn Marie. I
believe it was a body slam.
Match
Number Four - Luther Reigns vs. The Undertaker.
This match was all right.
The Undertaker hit the tombstone on Luther to pick up the
pin-fall victory.
Then
it was the final round in the Rookie 2005 Diva Competition, which
was the swimsuit category. The
same four participants were involved.
However, for the final round it was only Torrie Wilson who
was the host because Dawn Marie refused to come out to the ring.
The four Divas came out and then they asked the fans at the
Pay-Per-View in Pittsburgh who they thought should win the Rookie
Diva for 2005. The fans
seem to favour Joy and Michelle. The results were shown from WWE™.com and it revealed that
65 percent voted for Joy. The
remaining Divas received very small percentages.
I had to ask someone to read me what was on the screen
because they did not read out the results.
Match
Number Five - The finals in the No.1 Contender Tournament to
determine who would be the No.1 Contender for the WWE™
Championship. This
person would get to wrestle the WWE™ champion at Wrestlemania 21
in Los Angeles. Kurt
Angle vs. John Cena. This
match was very good. The
ending saw John Cena hit the FU on Kurt Angle to pick up the
pin-fall victory to become the No.1 Contender for the WWE™
Championship.
Match
Number Six - WWE™ Championship Barbed Wire Steel Cage
match. WWE™ Champion,
John "Bradshaw" Layfield vs. The Big Show. This match was very good.
A lot of blood was lost from both wrestlers. The ending saw The Big Show on the top rope choke slam JBL
right through the ring. Then
The Big Show used bull cutters that were at ringside to cut open the
lock on the door. Before
The Big Show could hit the floor, JBL crawled unto the floor
resulting in him winning the match and retaining his WWE™
Championship. After the
match, RAW's Batista, who was invited to "No Way Out" came
in and attacked JBL and his cabinet.
Some
additional comments regarding "No Way Out".
I must
say that I was surprised that Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio won
the WWE™ Tag Team Championship because it is rumoured that they
will wrestle each other at Wrestlemania, so I don't understand this
move. Maybe they might
gradually set something up and have them lose the tag team
championship and then feud against each other.
There
was no announcement of how many fans were in attendance so I can
only assume that this Pay-Per-View was not a sell-out.
It
didn't surprise me that John Cena defeated Kurt Angle in Angle's
hometown of Pittsburgh. The
reason is that for a while now it was rumoured that JBL and John
Cena would wrestle at Wrestlemania for the WWE™ Championship.
It appears that Cena will defeat JBL to become the new WWE™
Champion. I thought
that Shawn Michaels was going to interfere in the match between
Angle and Cena because they have started a feud and it appears that
Angle and Michaels will wrestle at Wrestlemania.
My
last comment has to do with the final round of the Rookie 2005 Diva
Competition. Once the
voting results were in, it was shown on the screen for people to
see. Myself, being
visually impaired, depend solely on audio; therefore I had to have
someone read the results to me.
