Match number one
- Intercontinental Championship.
Intercontinental Champion, Carlito Caribbean Cool Vs Shelton
Benjamin.
This was the opener for
Vengeance. The match
was very good. The
ending saw Carlito expose the turnbuckle pad, and then Shelton
Benjamin went to hit a splash in the corner.
Instead, he hit the exposed turnbuckle and Carlito then
pinned Shelton to pick up the pin-fall victory to retain his
Championship.
Match number two
- Victoria Vs Christy Hemme.
This match was all right
but nothing great. Victoria
picked up the pin-fall victory when she hit a Sunset flip on Christy
and used the ropes to help her win the match.
Match number three
- Kane Vs Edge (with Lita in his corner).
This match was all right.
Snitsky interfered in the match and the ending saw Snitsky
jump off the top rope only to be hit by Edge with his brief case.
Instead of hitting Kane, Edge hit Snitsky, which then led to
Kane hitting the choke slam on Edge to pick up the pin-fall victory.
Match number four
- Shawn Michaels Vs Kurt Angle.
This was a very good
match. The ending saw
Kurt Angle jump off the top rope to get hit with the sweet chin
music by Michaels to pick up the pin-fall victory.
After this, Lilian Garcia was introduced and she came out and
then she asked if Viscera would come out.
Once he came out, she first decided to sing to him.
After she finished singing, she got down on her knees and
asked Viscera if he would marry her.
He told her he would consider it, and then the Godfather's
music played and the Godfather made his WWE™ return.
He came out to see if Viscera would be more interested in
taking a trip on the Ho Train, or marry Lilian Garcia.
Viscera's final decision was that he would take a trip on the
Ho Train. Viscera and
Lilian's relationship had come to an end.
Match number five
- WWE™ Championship Triple Threat Match.
WWE™ Champion, John Cena Vs Chris Jericho Vs Christian.
This was a very good
Triple Threat match with Cena hitting the FU on Christian to pick up
the pin-fall victory to retain his Championship.
Match number six
- World Heavyweight Championship, Hell In A Cell Match.
World Heavyweight Champion, Batista Vs Triple H.
I don't know what to say
about the Hell In A Cell match because first, it was one of the best
matches of the night, and second, there was a lot of blood during
the contest. Triple H
brought in the sledgehammer and tried to use it, however it did not
work at all. At the
end, it saw Triple H with the sledgehammer in his hand trying to hit
Batista with it, but before he could, Batista hit the sit-down power
bomb on Triple H to pick up the pin-fall victory to retain his
Championship.
Some additional comments
regarding Vengeance.
I was surprised with the
fan reaction for the Carlito - Shelton Benjamin match, in that the
fans started to boo Benjamin and cheered for Carlito, even though he
was the heel in the match. However,
I was not surprised that he kept the Intercontinental Championship
because he just won the championship on RAW™ on June 20, so really
it did not make sense for him to win the belt and then to lose it at
the Pay-Per-View.
I thought the Victoria
and Christy Hemme match was all right, but it was very easy to see
that Christy is not the best wrestler.
I thought maybe it may have been better to have this match on
RAW™ instead of this Pay-Per-View, because in my opinion, Christy
still needs to improve her wrestling skills. In addition, while Christy was trying to do some offence, the
fans weren't too impressed. In
fact, they started to boo her.
To me that was not great.
The Shawn Michaels - Kurt
Angle second encounter was very good, but it was not like
Wrestlemania, but very good for the way they worked with each other.
I was not too happy with
the Triple Threat match for the WWE™ Championship.
The reason being, I think Christian deserved to be Champion
at this time. Over the years, he has done a lot for the WWE™ and RAW™.
It is about time Christian was rewarded for his efforts.
I thought that it would be his night if he won the WWE™
Championship for the first time, but this did not happen because
John Cena kept his Championship. So I am assuming the feud between Cena and Christian will
continue, and hopefully in the very near future, (the sooner the
better), that Christian finally gets to become the Champion whether
he is on RAW™ or on SmackDown™.
Triple H and Batista certainly
delivered in one of their best matches thus far, and it was very
good. I thought it was the best thing for Batista to keep the World
Heavyweight Championship because really it did not make any sense
for Triple H to win the Championship again.
The reason I say this is because right now the focus is on
Batista and it would not have done him any good if he lost the
Championship, since he only won it a couple of months ago.
I think that the Batista era has not ended yet and will
continue for a few more months before he loses the Championship to
someone else.
